Contact them to delay the Orphan Works bill.

The House Judiciary Committee may vote this week to approve the Orphan Works bill, which, as CLN has reported in previous issues, could prove extremely harmful to designers and manufacturers in their efforts to protect their copyrighted material.

If the Committee does not vote this week, the bill may die, Orphan opponents believe. Congress will begin its recess next week and, upon its return, will be too pre-occupied with the upcoming elections. If this session of Congress ends without final action on the bill, sponsors would have to re-introduce the bill and start all over in the next session.

Opponents are asking you to contact members of the Committee, particularly if they represent your district, and ask committee members to delay the vote.
